Imagine sitting in a cave around a fire. You can see the stars shimmering in all their glory through the jagged entry way of your home for the night. Creatures of the night are out and about singing their symphony. The fire crackles away as the flames dance to a mesmerizing rhythm as your shadow joins the move as it hangs behind your back. This fire is different, not because you've done anything outside the norm, but because you're not alone. You have a group of men that you handpicked to help you find meaning to your situation. These are men that have influenced who you are from a distance or up close. They inspire you in ways that leave you speechless and here they are sitting before you. One after another each one tells their unfiltered story with all its intricacies that makes it difficult for you to sit still. Their stories are more than history, they are detailed accounts of their journey to success through failures, and victory through pain. They listen to your questions and reach into the seemingly bottomless bag of experiences that unveil answers you never considered. This is their response and testimony to manhood and a reality that you never realized until this point. Though their experiences may be different the lessons seem to be weaving into the same tapestry. Nothing seems new and experience seems to be the teacher.
The Bible is riddled with stories of men who did exactly what men do today, - go into "The Cave". The misconception though is that when men go into the proverbial Cave they have simply shutdown. What if the silence is an opportunity to sift through their thoughts and figure out the way forward? What if it's a way in which men get re-energized and courageous to take down the Goliath that stands before them and others? More importantly what if it's a way to take the challenge to God, repent, or find the answers? This is what My Story My Testimony chronicles. Stories of cavemen in the Bible, inspired by the Bible, and re-imagined to be told from their perspective.
To be a caveman is not to be a prehistoric man that lives in caves. It is to be a man looking to and willing to connect with other men in Clear. Authentic. Vulnerable. Engagements. that remind us of our role on this earth and ignite the fire to keep pushing through life. Through each story you and I will quickly learn that we truly aren't experiencing anything new and that the burden is not ours to carry alone. That's the furthest from the truth and the stories you will read, I hope, will make that perfectly clear. Just as they tell their story they are, as I am caveman.
